Experience the Thrill: Join the Exclusive Closed Beta for Quantic Dream’s New MOBA Next Week!
Mark your calendars for December 4, because the closed beta of the highly anticipated Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, Spellcasters Chronicles, is set to kick off. Running through December 8, this will be the game’s first closed beta weekend, marking a significant step in the journey of this free-to-play title that was just unveiled a couple of months ago.
Spellcasters Chronicles is being crafted by Quantic Dream, a studio more famous for its narrative-driven games than for competitive gameplay. This move into the MOBA genre is intriguing, especially considering the studio’s reputation for titles like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, which focus heavily on player choice and storytelling. It seems like a bold step for them as they look to carve out a niche in the landscape dominated by titles like League of Legends and Dota.
As a 3 vs. 3 MOBA featuring a third-person perspective, Spellcasters Chronicles presents a unique twist on the genre. Although the gameplay mechanics are still largely a mystery, the closed beta promises to shed light on how it will unfold. Players will have the opportunity to explore six distinct character classes, each equipped with unique abilities, allowing them to summon creatures, cast spells, and strategically engage in combat to gain control of the arena. I’m particularly intrigued by the class named “Swamp Witch,” which sounds like a blast to play.
The closed beta will also introduce a new arena called The Mausoleum, along with a deck-building feature that adds an additional layer of strategy to the gameplay. Matches are designed to last about 25 minutes, where teams will be challenged to capture altars in order to expand their territory and gain an upper hand.
This upcoming beta is only the first of what Quantic Dream has in store for Spellcasters Chronicles. A second beta is already on the horizon for early next year, which is set to bring new character classes, additional arenas, a range of spells, and even more exciting summons.
While Quantic Dream continues to work on Star Wars: Eclipse, updates have been sparse, leaving gamers eager for any news. The development of Spellcasters Chronicles may just be the refresh this studio needs to become a notable contender in the multiplayer arena.
