Assassin’s Creed Shadows Brings Thrilling Action to Switch 2 This December 2
Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2025. The release will incorporate all existing updates, with the exception of the recently unveiled Claws of Awaji expansion, which is slated to arrive in 2026. As a noteworthy enhancement, the Switch 2 version will also allow cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect, enabling players to seamlessly continue their gameplay across platforms. Additionally, a unique feature will allow for touchscreen interactions in various menus, including the world map, store, and hideout, considerably enriching the user experience on the new console.
The exciting roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows outlines several significant updates. The first critical date is October 28, when title update 10 will be rolled out. This update will enhance the parkour system by introducing an Advanced Parkour option and reintroducing the directional catch ledge mechanic, among other improvements. It will also include a new Animus-themed activity known as Corrupted Castles, promising to add depth and variety to gameplay. Following this, on November 25, a third story expansion will debut, featuring a quest titled “A Puzzlement.” This chapter promises a lighter tone, reminiscent of the style found in AC Odyssey, and will involve characters Naoe and Yasuke in a series of humorous and engaging gameplay mechanics.
The Claws of Awaji expansion, released in September 2025, brought over 10 hours of fresh content to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, including new weapons, abilities, gear, enemy factions, bosses, and narrative developments set in an unexplored region. This well-received addition will be available for Switch 2 users in 2026, providing an incentive to look forward to future expansions.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows made its debut across multiple platforms—including PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S—on March 20, 2025. It stands out as a significant highlight in Ubisoft’s portfolio of games, particularly following the successful launch of Star Wars Outlaws on the Nintendo Switch 2, which has garnered praise for its performance on the newer hardware.
The anticipation surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows highlights gamers’ desire for versatility and innovation in their gaming experiences. With the combination of cross-platform play, unique touchscreen functionalities, and a robust content roadmap ahead, Ubisoft appears well-prepared to satisfy the demands of its gaming community.
